Florida Phone Number: History
Paleo-Indians are people who arrived in Florida at least 14,000 years ago. The primary ethnic groups in Florida by the 16th century—the earliest period for which historical records are available—were the Apalachee of the Florida Panhandle, the Timucua of northern and central Florida, the Ais of the central Atlantic coast, and the Calusa of southwest Florida.

Florida Phone Number: Geography
The Atlantic Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Straits of Florida surround a peninsula that contains most of Florida. It crosses two time zones and stretches along the northern Gulf of Mexico to the northwest, forming a panhandle. Georgia and Alabama border it to the north, and Alabama borders it to the west, where the panhandle ends. It is the only state that shares boundaries with the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Hawaii is the only state out of the fifty that extends further south than Florida. It is the southernmost of the 48 contiguous states. Florida is 90 miles (140 km) north of Cuba and west of the Bahamas.
The only states with more water areas than Florida are Alaska and Michigan. Florida is one of the biggest states east of the Mississippi River. The water boundary is located in the Atlantic Ocean 3 nautical miles (3.5 mi; 5.6 km) offshore and in the Gulf of Mexico 9 nautical miles (10 mi; 17 km) offshore.
