History
The business changed its name to Universal Campus Credit Union in 1977 and relocated off-campus to a location on Canyon Road in Provo.
The company’s total assets were $270 million in 2000. In 2000, it renamed itself Utah Community Credit Union to reflect the fact that its membership had grown beyond Brigham Young University. Similarly, anyone who resides, works, or attends school in Utah County is now eligible to join as of 2000. In Pleasant Grove, Utah, the credit union opened its seventh branch that year.
The use of student ID cards as UCCU debit cards by faculty and students was made possible in 2008. An announcement of UCCU’s partnership with Utah Valley University. The business bought the naming rights to the former David O. Mckay Events Centre in 2010 on the Utah Valley University campus in Orem, Utah.
Jeff Sermon served as CEO for fifteen years before stepping down in 2018. Bret Van Ausdal took over as his successor. The company completed the acquisition of a new corporate headquarters in Provo’s Riverwoods in 2019. UCCU was the first financial institution in Utah to accept a mobile driver’s licence as a legitimate form of identification in 2021.

Board of Directors
The voluntary Board of Directors at UCCU is responsible for setting corporate objectives, approving significant financial decisions, financial statements, and corporate strategies, allocating significant resources, representing the university in the community, and overseeing credit union operations.
A director must possess a strong sense of dedication, sound judgment, outstanding decision-making abilities, a thorough understanding of the community that UCCU serves, and a time commitment. Bret VanAusdal brings a total of 34 years of banking experience to UCCU, having served in the roles of Executive Vice-President and Senior Vice-President of Lending for the previous 22 years.
In addition to overseeing numerous important projects that aim to enhance member satisfaction and experience at UCCU, VanAusdal has led the expansion and careful management of a diverse loan portfolio that includes commercial and mortgage lending.
