1. The Hotline Was Real
The Ghostbusters released a commercial to promote their services prior to establishing themselves in New York City. The trio of founding members, portrayed by Bill Murray as Peter Venkman, Dan Aykroyd as Ray Stantz, and Harold Ramis as Egon Spengler, make an appearance on TV under the phone number 555-2368.
Ivan Reitman aired the exact same call-in commercial for the 1984 theatrical release of the movie. Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd would play a prerecorded message to callers, informing them that they were too busy busting ghosts to answer!
