History of Behavioural Health

In compliance with federal regulations, AHCCCS began to phase in mental health services and behavioural health coverage in 1990. Coverage of seriously emotionally disabled children under the age of eighteen who need residential care began with this. All Medicaid-eligible individuals received coverage for behavioural health over the course of the following five years.

AHCCCS has been working to integrate behavioural and physical health care services throughout its programmes since 1989. Services have been integrated since the Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS) was founded. April 2014 saw the complete integration of members with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) into Maricopa County; since 2013. Members who qualify for Children’s Rehabilitative Services have had access to integrated health care services.

Eligible for Medicaid

Medicaid for long-term care is available to individuals who meet certain requirements. They must be 65 years of age or older first.
Secondly, they have to be incapable of carrying out these fundamental daily tasks:

  • Bathing
  • Dressing
  • Toileting
  • Transferring
  • Eating

They will be eligible for long-term care if they are medically incapable of completing any of these duties. They do not qualify if they are unable to perform one but are able to perform the other four.

The financial requirement comes next. Both the individual’s income and total countable assets must be less than $2,742.00. Every year, this sum varies. If an individual satisfies all other conditions but has income that exceeds the cap, they may still be eligible if they establish a Miller Trust. The establishment of a Miller Trust or any other type of legal document can be aided by Senior Planning. Please click the link for more information about eligibility for long-term care.

FAQs

Q. What If I Want Assistance Applying?

Ans. Senior Planning can assist you if you require ALTCS for long-term care services, even though we are unable to assist with the general AHCCCS application. For many years, Senior Planning has assisted seniors and their families with ALTCS applications. We provide a comprehensive application service where we assist you with the financial and medical requirements. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about Medicaid eligibility in Arizona.

Q. How is In-Network Care located?

Ans. You can always find a medical facility or professional who can assist you because AHCCCS works with a wide range of hospitals, facilities, pharmacies, doctors, and even specialists. You will be able to find someone who will work with you regardless of the type of care or treatment you require. A few different insurance companies with extensive networks oversee AHCCCS. Co-pays are either free or fairly priced as long as you work with a member of your network.

Q. What Are the AHCCCS Fees?

Ans. People who qualify may be exempt from monthly premiums if they have developmental disabilities. Small co-payments may be required for children under the age of 19, but these could be waived for those in great need of money. Prior to AHCCCS funding, individuals in need of long-term care have their income deducted. The type of care being used and the individual’s income determine how much is taken.
